This Recommendation | International Standard defines in an abstract way the externally visible service provided by the Transport Layer in terms of: a) the primitive actions and events of the service; b) the parameter data associated with each primitive action and event; c) the relationship between, and the valid sequences of, these actions and events. The service defined in this Recommendation | International Standard is that which is provided by the Enhanced Communications Transport Protocol (in conjunction with the Network Service) and which may be used by any application protocol. The service can also be provided by other protocols possibly each supporting a subset of the services defined herein. The primitives specified in this Recommendation | International Standard support a connection-mode service and a connectionless service. In some cases of connectionless-mode service supporting enhanced communications, certain operations may also be necessary prior to the commencement of data transfer, e.g. agreement on quality of service. For the data transfer phase of either connection-mode or connectionless-mode services, there may be a range of dataordering characteristics. No implication is made in this Recommendation | International Standard regarding the inclusion or exclusion of any of the above characteristics given the service primitives specified herein. La presente Recommandation | Norme internationale definit dune facon abstraite, et tel quil est vu de lexterieur, le service fourni par la couche Transport, en termes: a) des evenements et actions de primitives du service; b) des donnees de parametres associees a chaque action et evenement de primitive; c) des relations et des sequences valides entre ces actions et evenements. Le service defini dans la presente Recommandation | Norme internationale est le service fourni par le Protocole de Transport de communications ameliore (conjointement avec le service Reseau) pouvant etre utilise par nimporte quel protocole dapplication. Le service peut egalement etre fourni par dautres protocoles, pouvant chacun prendre en charge un sous-ensemble des services definis dans la presente Recommandation | Norme internationale. Les primitives specifiees dans la presente Recommandation | Norme internationale prennent en charge un service en mode connexion et un service en mode sans connexion. Dans certains cas de services en mode sans connexion prenant en charge des communications ameliorees, certaines operations peuvent etre necessaires avant de debuter le transfert de donnees, par exemple laccord sur la qualite de service. Pour la phase de transfert de donnees des services en mode connexion, ou en mode sans connexion, il peut exister une gamme de caracteristiques dordonnancement des donnees. Concernant les primitives de service considerees, la presente Recommandation | Norme internationale ne contient aucune precision sur linclusion ou lexclusion de lune quelconque des caracteristiques susmentionnees.
