The International Union of Railways (UIC) develops and distributes International Railway Solutions (IRS) to help railway stakeholders, achieve further harmonisation and collaboration. This IRS provides the technical requirements which are applicable to the combined transport wagons which are suitable for the transport of roller units for horizontal transhipment complying with IRS 50591. It also provides the requirements for: - the allocation to the wagons of the Wagon Compatibility Code and wagon compatibility level, - the marking of the wagons. It is addressed to Railway Undertakings, Manufacturers and Entities in charge of the maintenance of railway vehicles.
