Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) is emerging as a key enabler of a global circular economy. Although initially a regional requirement, DPPs are increasingly being adopted worldwide, with major economies such as the United States, China, Japan, and Singapore advancing related initiatives.

A DPP is a machine?readable, interoperable dataset linked to a unique product identifier that accompanies a physical product throughout its lifecycle. By enabling verified, shareable information on material composition, carbon footprint, and circularity, DPPs improve transparency across global value chains, build trust, and support the verification of sustainability claims.

While the DPP concept is still evolving and the global ecosystem remains under development, this white paper outlines the DPP concept, governance considerations, technical framework, and functional reference architecture. It also highlights emerging trends and provides guidance to support the practical implementation and global interoperability of DPP systems.
