The technical requirements for the design of fishing gear and aquaculture equipment focus on:

• - Development and selection of materials and components;
• - Manufacture, assembly and disassembly;
• - Use and maintenance;
• - Repair, re-manufacturing and refurbishment;
• - Storage, transport; and
• - End-of-life including recycling.
