1.1 These test methods cover the determination of the content of 5-ethylidenenorbornene (ENB) in ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) terpolymers. They are applicable to ENB contents in the 0.1 to 10 wt % range. 1.2 ENB is a termonomer introduced in ethylene/propylene rubbers to generate specific cure properties. Since high precision for ENB content determination has become very important, a Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopic (FTIR) method was developed. ENB determination was performed in the past by a refractive index technique. 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
