1.1 This test method covers a procedure for conversion of animal and vegetable fatty acids into methyl esters of the fatty acids suitable for analysis by gas-liquid chromatography. 1.2 This test method is applicable to animal and vegetable fatty acids having 8 to 24 carbon atoms. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use.
